If there is one thing in this world I am thankful for, it’s the relationship I have with my God. His unfathomable, undeserved grace is sometimes the only thing that gets me through the day. Without His never-failing love I would not be the woman I am today. Through my failures in this world, my faith does not waver because I know He has my heart in His hands. I would like to tell you about my Father in Heaven.
You must know that we will never be able to fully understand God’s ultimate plan. When it comes to timing and action we must rely on God to fulfill His plan for our lives and for our world. We do know that God intends for us to have a relationship with Him. This relationship will begin when we do away with our past sin, and run to the Father with open arms, ready to accept His immeasurable love and plan for our lives on earth.
The first step in creating this relationship, is understanding that we all sin and fall short of the Kingdom of God. Romans 3: 23 tells us, “…all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God”. There is no one on the earth who can escape from sinning, but we can do our best every day to live the life Christ calls us to. It’s important to know that no actions we perform can fix the sin that we’ve committed in our lives, nor will they get us into Heaven.
There is however, a price that must be paid in order to eventually live in Heaven. Romans 6:23 tells us, “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.” The price for our sins must be repaid by blood. Originally, these sacrifices were fulfilled by families slaughtering pure livestock to atone for their sins.
This would change when Jesus would come to earth. He was born of a virgin, Mary, who raised Him in accordance with God’s will. Jesus lived His life on earth without sin. Because of this, Jesus became the ultimate sacrifice to atone for the sins of everyone.
Thankfully, Jesus didn’t just die on the cross and that was the end of it. If He remained in the grave that would mean Hell would have won. After three days, Jesus rose from the grave in victory over Darkness. Luke 24:6 says, “He is not here; he has risen! Remember how he told you, while he was still with you in Galilee.” He ascended to Heaven and is waiting at the right hand of the Father to return to the earth for the ultimate victory over Death.
Our relationship begins when we come to the understanding that God sent His son to die on the cross to atone for the sins we have committed. We must believe that Jesus came to earth, He was pure, and that he died on the cross for our sins. We must understand that God didn’t have to do this, He chose to do this because He is a God of love and mercy.
All this being said, I must tell you that I AM NOT PERFECT. I too fall short of the glory of God. It is through His grace that I believe I am saved. My testimony is full of failures and shortcomings and you can read a little bit about it here.
Until then, I’ve written a prayer for you to say if you believe the words above to be true.
Dear Heavenly Father,
I thank you for your incredible love that I cannot fully understand yet. I thank you for sending your son to die on a cross for my sins. I believe that Jesus died and rose again for the sake of the world. I want to ask you to be a part of my life, and to begin a relationship with me in the days to come. You truly are a good, good Father. It’s in Jesus’ holy name. Amen.
